Babs’ Christmas Bread Pudding

The first time I remember loving bread pudding was at Babs and Gungy’s house. It’s entirely delicious and couldn’t be easier to make.

Ingredients
1 loaf bread; French, challah, brioche, or panettone
3 eggs
1.5 cups white sugar
2 tablespoons real vanilla
1 cup golden raisins (omit if using panettone)

Instructions
Tear bread into bite size pieces and place in a large bowl
Cover with milk and let stand 1 hour so bread absorbs liquid
Preheat oven to 325
Generously grease a lasagna type pan with butter
In smaller bowl, beat 3 eggs, white sugar, vanilla. Pour over bread and stir together
Add raisins
Pour entire mixture into lasagna pan and and bake about 1 hour 10 minutes (brown and set)
Serve with whipped cream

Advanced tip: Heat 1/4 cup brandy on the stove to hot but not boiling (don’t want the alcohol to evaporate), pour on top of bread pudding (still in pan) and light on fire at table.
